Activities

The project brings together relevant data services to prototype infrastructure for AI capability in the Arts and Humanities. This will be achieved through a set of activities as outlined below:

  • Events open to all researchers in the Arts and Humanities:
  • Exchange placements between researchers and practitioners in Arts and Humanities research groups within Higher Education Institutions and Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums in the UK and Europe, allowing researchers to collaborate on an AI-related project.
  • Developing an infrastructural prototype including developing shared schemas for common data access, improving the code, interface, resilience and security of the prototype research tool and testing portability on UK and international AI infrastructures, such as AIRR, the EOSC EU Node and EuroHPC.
  • Improving sustainability by exploring community-led models for sustaining access to AI infrastructure.

The outputs of the project build on the insights and networks established by the team through previously funded community and skills projects to drive the development and wider adoption of AI capabilities, such as the UKRI-funded Digital Skills in Arts and Humanities (DISKAH) Network, the UKRI National Federated Compute Services NetworkPlus-funded Federation of Compute and Infrastructures in the Arts and Humanities project, the Collaborative Computational Project for Arts, Humanities, and Culture UKRI-funded scoping initiative and the AHRC-funded Data/Culture project.

By building on established data services, use cases and communities, the project will develop AI research capacity and add value to wider UKRI investments.
